The
final of three workshops will take place on June 7th (12PM)
and June 8th (2PM) at Topaz Arts in Woodside, Queens. After
two research trips to Mexico and dialogue with numerous artists,
the events will be a final look at Calpulli's development
of a new work based on the disappearing dances and traditions
of the Raramuri natives in the Sierra Madre in northern Mexico.
The workshops include a presentation by Calpulli directors,
a performance by company dancers, and a concluding, interactive
workshop with attendees and fellow dancers.
Space and seating are limited.

Éxito, éxito! Calpulli's first spring tour is
a great success!
|
|

In
March through April 2008, Calpulli graced the stages at
Colgate University, the newly expanded Community Theatre
at Mayo Arts Center for the Performing Arts, and spent four
fantastic weeks at the Festival of Nations at Dollywood
in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Along the way, we met energetic
crowds, the friendliest audiences and theater staff we could
have hoped for, and simply unforgettable people from around
the world who made the performances all the more wonderful.
Calpulli even shared the stage with the legendary Dolly
Parton in Dollywood's Pines Theater!
At
the same time, Calpulli continued its projects in New York
City, including its children's program and the second series
of workshops of the Tarahumara project. Thank you all for
your support! Here are a few photos and fun links to explore.
